You can use your card to pay for your hotel or accommodation, but please be aware that if you use any prepaid, debit or credit card when checking in to a hotel or hiring a car that typically a process occurs called pre-authorisation. No money is actually taken off your card at this point but funds are effectively ring-fenced on your card to cover them against non-payment and are therefore not available to spend. This money will remain blocked on the card for 21 days, which means you cannot use the funds until the transaction expires and by which time you will most likely be back from your travels before you can use the funds. Therefore, we recommend using a regular credit or debit card to "guarantee" transactions and only use the FairFX card when you actually settle an account.
